I absolutely hate this situation, and have to agree with Craig and Rodney that this is a spot I need to avoid in the future, by folding to the re-raise. But having played it, I felt good about the fold there. With the J on the board, the only hand I'm beating is AK and maybe 99 or 1010 if those are in his PF re-raising range.
Question: Does being in position make you more likely to call with the AQ? Or is it an auto-fold to a PF re-raise to a non-laggy opponent?

It's good to know I'm not the only one who gets stacked here. I think the potential for draws killed me. I was able to convince myself that there was a good enough chance that he had QJ or a flush draw that it was worth it to stick around. The turn K helped finished me off. Looking back, bells really should have gone off at the strange raise to $35. Because I don't think that an OESD or FD does that. That's the move of a made hand. I think only 88, 1010, or K10 makes that move, and I think I could have gotten away at that point.

Ah, the world isn't all that bad. I figured him for something like 7-6, 9-10, 8-9, and figured I was going down to a 5-6 or a lucky naked 5 regardless. But I can't believe he made that call with K-8.
So during this session, I ran well for about an hour and a half, and then got absolutely hammered for about 30 minutes before I quit. I lost 4 buy-ins during those 30 minutes. Lost another big one (not posted) holding QQ on a J-9-7 board, where my opponent flopped the straight. I made that big fuss about letting go of big pairs a little while back, but I still can't put it to any use. Until I can actually learn from these mistakes instead of repeating them, I'll be floundering around at this level, probably for a while. See you at the tables.
